Rejuvenating Oil

What inspired you to create Rejuvenating Oil?

At the time, I was working with a lot of Hollywood actresses, both in the salon and on film sets. Due to frequent heat styling and/or hair color changes for movie roles, they often had dry, damaged hair with a lot of breakage. And they were desperate: having great-looking hair was part of the job. But even at the luxury end of the market, there were no products that could help bring their hair  back to life. To help, I started researching the healing powers of botanicals and invented Rejuvenating Oil in my kitchen. I used it on my clients, and saw how the oil instantly restored their hair. It became softer, stronger, and more supple and voluminous. No more breakage, just movie-star body, bounce and shine. As word of mouth spread, orders flooded in.

What types of scalp/hair conditions does Rejuvenating Oil benefit?

So many! It helps dry, damaged hair; split ends; dull, frizzy hair; coarse hair; fine, limp hair; dandruff; and itchy, dry scalp. It helps normalize an oily scalp, too, because the plant and flower oils in the formula helps by solubilizing with the much heavier, waxy sebum on the scalp Allowing the sebum to spread out and soak into the hair evening out the hairs is porosity/ absorbency; At the same time, the Rejuvenating Oil sinks deep inside the hair fiber to restore its optimal oil balance without weighing it down. The best part: Any excess Rejuvenating Oil left on the surface of your hair and scalp lifts away when you shampoo it out. Your hair comes out bouncy and shining and your scalp, squeaky-clean.

What is the best way to use Rejuvenating Oil?

  1. Apply a generous amount of oil to your dry unwashed hair and scalp.
  2. Use a blowdryer for a few minutes to warm the oil: That will help it absorb into each strand and moisturize your hair from the inside-out.
  3. Leave the oil on your hair for at least 20 minutes (or overnight).
  4. Oil and water do not mix so apply your shampoo directly to the oil treated hair and add water, later up. You can Wash your hair with a gentle clarifying shampoo. I use my Peppermint & Avocado Volumizing & Clarifying Shampoo, made with a therapeutic dose of pure peppermint oil to lift away any excess oil from your hair and leave your scalp tingly clean.
  5. Condition as usual. I use my Lightweight Deep Conditioner, rinse, and finish with 2-3 spritzes of my Detangling Toning Mist.

What types of hair transformations have you seen with this product?

The transformations are dramatic and often life-changing. I’ve given thousands of Rejuvenating Oil treatments, and it’s not uncommon for people to weep with amazement or relief when they see the results. I’ve seen hair go from parched and over-processed — literally breaking off in my hands — to healthy and glossy. I’ve seen Rejuvenating Oil turn around dry, itchy scalps that were keeping clients up at night. I’ve seen fine, limp strands come out full, bouncy and swinging like a pendulum. I’ve seen dull, frizzy hair turn smooth and youthful in just one treatment. I’ve seen coarse, unruly hair morph into sexy, manageable styles.

Do you have any pro tips for use?

Before applying Rejuvenating Oil, thoroughly brush your hair and scalp with a brush containing natural boar hair bristles (read more about brushing here). Unlike nylon bristles, the boar bristles will help lift the waxy oils on your scalp (Mother Nature’s conditioner) and carry them down the hair shaft. That simple step can go a long way toward enhancing the moisturizing impact of the Rejuvenating Oil; it also clears the deck so the light plant oils in the formula can refresh your scalp more efficiently. I make my own brushes using a mix of boar hair and nylon bristles — they're perfect for styling and for using pre-oil treatment.
